Becoming Whole in Christ

Updated: Aug 22, 2022

The story of the woman with the issue of blood is one we're most familiar with; A woman, having been afflicted with a health challenge for 12 years that had taken all her finances and still got no solution, met with Jesus, the Christ, and it all the affliction came to an end (Mark 5:25-29, 32-34).

Now note, when Jesus asked who touched Him and she owned up, Jesus made a reply that was odd, He said, "your faith, has made thee WHOLE". He did not address her sickness because she was already healed but He spoke to the entirety of her situation and her life, a total and all round blessing. This leads us to understand that an encounter with Jesus does not just heal you or only address the particular problem in your life you came to Him for, but the purpose of an encounter with Jesus, the goal of His coming into your life is to make you WHOLE.

What does it mean to be whole? John made a statement that helps us understand this in 3 John 1:2, stating that it is the will of God to prosper and be health even as our souls and spirit man prospers. Ladies, you need to know that Jesus wants to come into your life not only to give you salvation, but to also meet you at the point of need regarding everything pertaining to your life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3).

Wholeness according to the dictionary means SOMETHING COMPLETE, WITHOUT ANY PARTS MISSING. And the Bible says we are complete in Jesus (Colonials 2:10). This means as a child of God, and a woman made in His likeness, you have the capacity to be whole in all areas of your life, including your spiritual life, health life, mental life, financial life, purpose and relationships.

Looking at the case of the woman with the issue of blood, let me show you how her encounter with Jesus brought restoration and wholeness to her life:

She was afflicted with a disease in her body that made her physical life and health very burdened. She had spent all her money on doctors, yet there was no solution. Now she wasn't only sick, but also poor. A woman with her condition will have a very offensive odor, this will cause people to avoid her thereby straining her relationships and even cause her husband to abandon her after all those years

Someone with a physical illness such as these will not be able to pursue divine purpose and will only live, hoping to survive and see another day.

With all these problems, she would have definitely started suffering a major mental illness such as depression.

YET, ALL IT TOOK, WAS AN ENCOUNTER, A TRUE FAITH FILLED ENCOUNTER WITH JESUS TO TURN HER STORY AROUND, THEREBY MAKING HER WHOLE IN THE

FOLLOWING WAYS:

Jesus healed her body and her mind.

Her faith received life, and her spirit man will start shining once again.

Lost hopes and dreams were restored, now she had a story to tell the whole world and a purpose to live for.

By this same encounter, everybody that may have abandoned her will seek her out just to hear her story and also help her back on her feet.

I'm sure you can see clearly that Jesus wasn't only speaking about her sickness when He said those words, but He was speaking prophetically into other areas of her life that the devil had used the sickness to destroy and make her fall short of the glory of Wholeness our Father in heaven had created her for.
